Repairs

Worrying engine noise or something not right with your car?  We can review the problem with you and if you do need repairs, we'll always give you a full quote before we start work. We'll even show you the problem part before we fix it. We can repair or replace all major vehicle components, including:

Clutch

Whether you're hearing noises when changing gears, or something just feels 'not right', our technicians will conduct a comprehensive check of your clutch system to put your mind at rest.

Cambelt

The cambelt is one of the most crucial components of your engine and most manufacturers recommend a cambelt change every 40,000 to 60,000 miles, or after 3 to 5 years. If you're at all unsure whether it's time for a replacement, book an appointment with us today.  Based on the age and mileage of your vehicle, we can quickly assess whether you need a replacement.

Exhaust

Rattling noises, smells or a failed emissions check may all point to problems with all or part of your exhaust system. We can conduct a thorough review of your system to see what might need replacing.

Suspension

You might have noticed that your car isn't as stable as it used to be, or you may have bought a used car that needs a check-up.  In any case, it's important to service the suspension when required, as it improves safety and prolongs the lifespan of your car

Others

From wiper blades to bulbs and batteries, we can supply and fit all the parts you might need to keep your car working at its best.

Our technicians are experts and we only use top-quality, original-spec parts. This means we are able to guarantee our repairs for 12,000 miles or 12 months (terms and conditions apply).

Tyres

Your tyres are the only point of contact your vehicle has with the road, so you can appreciate why it is vitally important that you select the right tyre type for the vehicle you are driving and for the purpose it is being used.  Also, the law requires your vehicle be fitted with the correct type and size of tyre and that the minimum depth of the tread on your tyres is 1.6 millimetres, across the central ¾ of the tread.

We understand that when a motorist has a problem with a tyre they want a quality service, value for money and expert advice.  We will guide you through your tyre choices to make sure you get the right tyre for you and your car.  We have great car tyre deals on known and trusted brands, and all prices for new tyres include fitting and balancing, with no hidden extras.

Wheels that are not balanced or are out of balance generally produce a vibration that is uncomfortable to drive in and results in premature wearing of suspension and steering components, rotating parts and tyres.  Correctly balanced wheels help to eliminate vibration and avoid premature wear.  The first sign that your wheels may be out of balance is when your steering wheel starts to wobble above a certain speed.

At Community Motors, all wheels are balanced on our modern wheel balancing machine. The machine rotates the tyre and wheel assembly and automatically calculates the weight and location of the balance counter weight.

Wheel Alignment

Wheel alignment, or tracking, is the process of ensuring your vehicle’s wheels are set to the optimum position, as per the car manufacturer’s specifications, so that tyres wear evenly.  Incorrect wheel alignment can be caused by hitting a kerb, driving into a pothole in the road or by excessive wear to steering or suspension components.

Incorrect alignment can result in rapid irregular tyre wear and can even affect the handling and safety of the vehicle - it could feel like your car is 'pulling' to one side.  Correct wheel alignment ensures that the tyres are perpendicular to the ground and parallel to each other and that on a level straight road your car will travel in a true straight line. This provides safe and predictable vehicle control and road holding alongside a smoother and more comfortable ride, which will help maximise the life of your tyres.

We use modern laser alignment equipment to allow us to align the front two wheels, which normally resolves alignment issues for most vehicles.  If additional work is needed we can provide a quote to do this.

Air Conditioning

Keep your car cool in the summer and your windows de-misted in the winter with an efficiently operating car air conditioning system.  Our extensive air conditioning service includes a refrigerant recharge and replacement of lubricating oil, plus a comprehensive system components check.  As well as keeping you cooler in hot weather, a fully recharged system will reduce your fuel consumption by putting less strain on the engine.

Diagnostics

Diagnostic procedures are a form of repair that is carried out to your vehicle involving any of the on board vehicle computer systems. This can range from Engine Management, Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Electronic Park Brake (EPB), Traction Control and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) faults, Airbags and Supplementary Restraining Systems (SRS), Alarm Immobiliser, Heater and Air-Conditioning control, Key coding and even Battery Charging control.

We use state-of-the-art car diagnostic test equipment and our high-level technical training means we can make sense of baffling fault codes and advise on any necessary repairs for all makes and models.

More often than not the cause of the problem with these systems is either a wiring or sensor fault.  We will identify and fix the cause and then reset the warning light. If the cause is not fixed then the light will come back as soon as that system is used again.

Number Plates

We are a registered supplier of Number Plates, should yours be damaged or require replacement.  To provide a new number plate we require to see original documents that prove your identity and your entitlement to the registration number.  Suitable documents are shown here.

Some of our many happy customers...

I had a full service on my Van. They were very helpful and knowledgeable and they have delicious free coffee in the reception. Great to have a place I can recommend to others with such high standards!

Ashlee

Excellent customer service.  Covered the health check, replaced my failing battery and demonstrated and explained the issue with my brakes.   They could have replaced my front pads and discs but instead explained that as the braking performance was not affected the sound was purely a cosmetic issue and could be dealt with at a later date.

Jamie

Excellent mechanical work, very friendly and a great underlying social cause. Thoroughly recommend this local garage
